You can try to restore to an earlier time, when his cousin, uninstall the sound driver.

If you have a legitimate copy of Windows XP to Windows Update and install the appropriate drivers. Otherwise you will find on the website of the production facilities, the ex. Www.hp.com HP and then go to support, there are drivers and find the model # of your computer and then download the sound drivers and install them .... Ether IT fix WAY!
